Course Information

 

Swim Course:

Swim a fast point-to-point route in the Ohio River.

 

Olympic Distance: 1500m Click Here For Map

Start at the RiverStage. Swim upriver (east) 500m. Turn around and swim downriver (west) the final 1000m. Finish at the 65 North/South Bridge (Kennedy Bridge) and exit the water. The transition area is a block west of where you exit the water. After the swim you will have to run a short distance (175yards) to the bikes.


Sprint Distance: 750m

Start at the RiverStage. Swim up river (east) 150m. Turn around and swim downriver (west) 600m. Finish at the 65 North/South Bridge (Kennedy Bridge) and exit the water. The transition area is a block west of where you exit the water. After the swim you will have to run a short distance (175yards) to the bikes.

Swim Start
The swim start is .75mi east of the transition area. Athletes must make their way down to the swim start (RiverStage) by 7:15 for course rules.

 

Swim Safety Information
Lifeguards and fire department in motor/self propelled watercraft will be along the swim course. If at any time an athlete feels unable to continue swimming, the Lifeguards will be of assistance. EMT's will also be on site if needed.

New and improved exit ramp for a nice and safe water exit. Sand will be added to water exit. Carpet and lap lanes will be added for a cleaner swim entrance.

Bike Course:*

The bike route takes you through Indiana along Utica Pike. Experience a scenic ride down the Ohio River's waterfront. Athletes bike a fast, out and back course.

Head east on Riverside Dr. and up Utica Pike. Short Detour North up Port Rd and back South on Brown Forman Rd. Head through Utica and turn around at Paul Garret.


Sprint Distance: 20K

Head East on Riverside Dr. and up Utica Pike. Turn Left to head North on Port Rd. Turn around at the intersection of Port Rd. and Middle Rd. Turn right back onto Utica pike. Left onto Walnut St. and a quick right onto Riverside Dr. and Finish at the Kennedy Bridge.

 

Bike Safety Information
The bike portion is not a completely closed course. All intersections will be controlled by police/volunteers. Traffic along the route is minimal and the roads are very wide however bikers should still be aware of the presence of vehicles. Vehicles will only be allowed on the course when the intersection is completely clear of bikers. In addition, a rolling road block will be used. Police cars will lead large groups of bikers through the route. This system is also used in the Tour De France.

Run Course:

The run course takes you on a beautiful route on the waterfront of Jeffersonville, Indiana along the Ohio River. Athletes run along the Falls of the Ohio. Both olympic and sprint distances run along the Falls, turn around on the Greenway, and run back to finish on Riverside Dr.

Run from transition and head west on Riverside Dr. Continue through the Falls of the Ohio onto the Greenway. Run to the end of the Greenway to the turnaround. The Greenway will take you back to Riverside Dr. for a sprint finish under the Kennedy Bridge!

 

Sprint Distance: 5K Click Here For Map

Run from transition and head west on Riverside Dr. Continue through the Falls of the Ohio and onto the Greenway. Run half of the Greenway to the turnaround. The Greenway will take you back to Riverside Dr. for a sprint finish under the Kennedy Bridge!


Run Safety Information
The run portion is a closed course. Water stations will be at every mile increment during the run. EMT's will also be on site if needed.
